Linear route Scenic Family-friendly Cultural/historical interest Insider tip

A circular route exploring the traces of the First World War set in the Val Saisera.

The “Abschnitt Saisera” Theme Park is an open-air museum dedicated to the First World War, established in 2012 in the heart of the Val Saisera. It includes the remains of the “Vordere Saisera” defensive line, built by Austro-Hungarian troops to counter a possible Italian invasion. The park consists of three circular routes, which can be combined by following this itinerary. The trails are clearly visible, and the historical remains are accompanied by information panels with explanations and historical images. The first section of the park allows visitors to explore what was once the winding valley-floor line of “Vordere Saisera.” Along the route, you will find a searchlight position, a guard post, a listening post, and a grenade-launching position. The trail then leads to Villa Anna and the "Sasso Bucato" — a huge glacial boulder inside which an impressive machine-gun gallery was excavated. The route then continues towards Fuss Nabois and the Geschütz Kaverne, two gun positions located in the highest part of the itinerary.
