Great War Museum of Ragogna
Founded in 2006 as part of a European project and strengthened in recent years, the Great War Museum of Ragogna explores the events of the First World War, focusing on the battles of the Caporetto retreat and the defence of the Tagliamento.
It preserves thousands of original finds recovered from the ground and also acquired thanks to donations from soldiers’ descendants. Making use of a large relief model, an updated illustrated route and multimedia reconstructions, the museum recounts the military history of the area and examines a range of topics, including permanent fortifications, displacement and espionage. It also includes a rich documentary archive, a specialised library and a conference room. It can serve as the starting or ending point for the four itineraries of the thematic park “The Places of the Great War in the Friuli Hills”, located nearby.
