Historical Exhibition of Fanteria d'Arresto

Friuli, from the Natisone and Torre Valleys to the Tagliamento Museums and exhibitions

Inside a building of the former "Tagliamento" Barracks in Valvasone Arzene, visitors can explore the Historical Collection of the Fanteria d’Arresto. The exhibition, curated by the Associazione Nazionale Fanti d’Arresto (ANFA), displays a rich collection of military memorabilia.

The barracks were built during the 1960s to serve as the headquarters of the 73rd Barrier Infantry Regiment “Lombardia”, which was responsible for managing the system of permanent fortifications between Valvasone Arzene and Pinzano al Tagliamento, a crucial sector of the defensive line established along the Tagliamento River. The barracks were decommissioned in the 1990s as part of the demilitarization of north-eastern Italy.

Today, one of the former service buildings managed by the Association houses an exhibition of military artefacts and memorabilia. Of particular interest are the items relating to the Fanteria d’Arresto, including period uniforms, equipment and other objects that illustrate the history and daily life of this specialized branch of the Italian Army.
