Austro-German tombs in the municipal cemetery of Resiutta
Julian Alps
Ossuaries, War Memorials and Cemeteries
Outside the civil cemetery of Resiutta, on the right, it is possible to see a funerary shrine and several German and Austro-Hungarian graves dating from the days immediately following the Caporetto retreat.
Many of them bear as date of death 29 or 30 October 1917, the days when the army of the Central Powers advanced towards the Friulian plain also using the Val Resia route towards the Val Fella. The graves are aligned along the perimeter wall and do not display any particular artistic features: a small block of white stone marks the place where the remains of the fallen rest and simply bears the name, the military unit to which they belonged and the date of death.
