6 Kambreško–Šmartno

Walk of Peace
Linear route Scenic Refreshment stops available Cultural/historical interest Flora Insider tip

Easy stage that allows you to immerse yourself in authentic local atmospheres, leaving behind mountain panoramas in favor of scenic views of the rich beauty of the villages in the wine region.

Lands marked by war. Lands that remember. But also living, vital lands, capable of rebirth. Rich lands that did not stop at the horrors that crossed them. After some intense stages, this route allows you to go further, moving from Mount Korada down among churches and villages where the still visible signs of war partly blend and soften into a rich and lush territory. Walking along these paths, it will be possible to grasp how history expands backward, as far as the times when the nearby border with the Serenissima led \u0160martno to develop the defensive structures still visible today, and forward, up to the present day where the battlefields have given way to the lush vineyards of the Brda region.

From Lig, you first proceed on the road and then through the forest towards Mount Korada, a panoramic point from which Vittorio Emanuele III himself observed the front line.
