Battle Area of Mount San Michele
A short itinerary to discover the battlefields of the First World War.
The Battle Area is the zone where the Italian army launched its first attacks against the Austro-Hungarian defensive line in the summer of 1915. This easy itinerary makes it possible to discover the many communication trenches, trenches and remains of fortifications found in the area. Most of the remains visible today belong to Italian fortifications dating from the final months of 1916 and the beginning of 1917. Along the route, visitors can also see several memorial stones, in particular the one dedicated to Filippo Corridoni and the one commemorating the Sassari Brigade, both of which fought here.
