K-C1 Kobarid (Caporetto) - Kolovrat/Colovrat - Solarie/Solarje

Walk of Peace
Linear route Scenic Cultural/historical interest Insider tip Summit route

First stage of a fairly demanding circular route between Kobarid and Cividale del Friuli/Čedad focused on the events of the Twelfth Battle of the Isonzo.

A stage entirely focused on the crucial areas involved in what was known as the “Caporetto retreat”, one of the key events of the First World War also known internationally and indelibly etched into the memory of the nations directly involved. The Twelfth and final Battle of the Isonzo, also known as the “Caporetto retreat”, saw, after exhausting years of war, the collapse of Italian troops before the advance of the Austro-German army which managed to redraw the front lines by quickly pushing them back as far as the Piave line. Now, the town of Kobarid as well as the surrounding mountains preserve the remains and testimonies imprinted both in the fascinating natural environments and in the monuments and museums present.

After passing the Center for School and Extracurricular Activities Kavka, the path continues partly on asphalt, partly along a dirt road, until a trail leading to the Nagnoj summit is reached.
