Walk of Peace
Linear route Scenic Refreshment stops available Cultural/historical interest Insider tip

Entirely Italian stage that leads through charming villages, panoramic viewpoints, and historical sites which, although partially overlapping with other routes, keep alive the theme of the Great War.

A walk that does not present excessive difficulties and that for the hiker appears immersed among meadows, woods, and characteristic small villages of a predominantly hilly area. This part of the route, largely overlapping with the Alpe Adria Trail and the Sentiero Italia, leads to touching some important Italian front defense points in the area. Here, the hiker can rediscover memories by following the trails step by step without completely losing sight of the natural beauties offered by a decidedly pleasant local reality.

Directions

The stage starts by leaving behind the Rifugio casoni di Solarie and the nearby monument dedicated to Riccardo Giusto following the CAI 746 trail to Clabuzzaro/Brieg, once a defensive stronghold thanks to its strategic view over the valley below. Then it continues to the CAI 747 trail and follows what was called the "Destra Judrio" defensive line whose traces have partly been recently recovered in the direction of San Volfango/Svet Štuoblank where there is a disused cemetery and a commemorative monument. After passing Rucchin/Zaločilo, it proceeds to a fork leading to the summit of Monte Cum/Hum or skirts its side. This peak represented an important point of the Italian defensive system whose positions have been restored by the Municipality of Stregna/Sriednje. After passing the summit, you reach the final destination of the stage: the village of Tribil Superiore.
