K-C6 Matajur - Kobarid (Caporetto)
Final stage offering hikers the possibility of a cross-border historical and naturalistic route that, detaching from the summit of Matajur, reconnects to the historical sites of Kobarid.
Final stage of the Walk of Peace loop from Kobarid to Cividale del Friuli/Čedad. This section unites the two main elements that have characterized the entire circuit: the panoramic, all-round view of the sites of the Twelfth Battle of the Isonzo, thanks to the open points of view from Mount Matajur, and the ‘direct contact’ with the key points of that same front. This can be experienced through contact with the historical testimonies of Kobarid and its surrounding territories. This city is nationally and internationally known precisely for being the center of that 'route' from which it took its name, which pushed back Italian troops after years of conflict to the Piave line.
Author's tip
In Livek, the Thematic Route is recommended, allowing you to visit seven interesting sites.

Directions
The stage starts from the Pelizzo Refuge, located in Italian territory, then ascends the summit of Matajur from where you can see both the Friulian plain and Monte Canin/Kanin as well as the peaks that were protagonists of hard battles during the Great War such as Krn (Monte Nero), Batognica (Monte Rosso) and Mrzli vrh. From here you descend along the Italo-Slovenian border towards the settlement of Avsa. From there you continue along the paved road towards the hamlet of Perati up to the church of San Pietro. From there, entering a wooded path, you continue towards Livek where it is possible to take an interesting thematic route. Then you proceed, passing the fire station, towards Idrsko. Upon reaching the village, at the intersection with the main road leading to Kobarid, there is the private collection Posočje 1915‒1917. Proceeding along a secondary road, you then reach Kobarid, the end and the beginning of this loop, where it will be possible, if not already done, to follow the Historical Path of Kobarid with various local points of interest including the main "Walk of Peace" Visitor Center.
